About Me

Dawn Leach NCPT, CPT

I first became interested in Pilates after I suffered a back injury in 2002. I practiced Pilates for approximately three years before deciding to take my first instructors course. I realized I could help others, as I had been helped, with the Pilates Method. I certified in Pilates Mat and standing Pilates in 2005 with the Physicalmind Institute® in Chicago.

A few years later I trained with Stott Pilates® in Florida participating in their mat and reformer traning. I continued to study exercise science at college and certified with ACE as a personal trainer.

Since moving to Bowling Green, and teaching at Absolutely Pilates for 3 years, I have obtained a comprehensive Pilates certification with Integrated Balance®.  400 hours of training on all of the Pilates equipment. I also certified with the National Pilates Certifcation Program, achieving one of my initial long term goals!

Currently I am about to certify in Pilates for Neurological Conditions.

I split my time between an assistant manager's job and teaching Pilates from my home studio. I love the Pilates method and I love teaching others how to exercise and move correctly. My style of teaching has evolved. I do incorporate some traditional strength training exercises (if appropriate) alongside the Pilates method. Learning some of those basic tried and trusted exercises you may see in the gym, and adding the Pilates principles, will only enhance your workout!

My goal is to not only teach the Pilates method, but to help you move with strength and ease once again. As we age it is even more important to add some form of resistance training into our lives. Infact we should of started back in our twenties :). Do not think if you are over 50 you cannot begin gentle Pilates. Women in general tend to underestimate the benefits of resistance training. A balance of cardio and resistance training is required.

Maybe 2023 is the year you take the plunge!

I continue to educate myself and I have enjoyed learning from those whom I have met along my journey.

If we do meet this year wonderful - if not I wish you the very best in your journey to better health.
